Javier Gerardo Milei is the current President of Argentina. An economist serving as a federal deputy of Buenos Aires and leader of the political coalition "La Libertad Avanza". Since December 2021, Milei has been a National Deputy (member of the Argentine Chamber of Deputies) in Buenos Aires for La Libertad Avanza.
Milei obtained an economics degree at the private University of Belgrano and received two master's degrees from the Instituto de Desarrollo Económico y Social (IDES) and the private Torcuato di Tella University. He became a chief economist at Máxima AFJP, a head economist at Estudio Broda, and a government consultant at the International Centre for Settlement of Investment Disputes. He was also formerly a senior economist at HSBC.
Since 2012, Milei has led the division of Economic Studies, Fundación Acordar. He is also a member of the B20, the Economic Policy Group of the International Chamber of Commerce, and the World Economic Forum. He is a specialist in economic growth and has been a professor of several economic subjects in Argentine universities and abroad. He has authored nine books, as well as over fifty academic papers. In the past, he worked in the private company Corporación América, where he worked for fifteen years as chief economist and financial adviser to Eduardo Eurnekian.
For more than twenty-one years, Milei has been a professor of macroeconomics, the economics of growth, microeconomics, and mathematics for economists.
